Ivan Salaverry MMA is a direct affiliate of Marcelo Alonso / Carlson Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Coach Ivan initially started training under Marcelo’s tutelage in 1996. Marcelo has been training and coaching Sport Jiu-Jitsu for well over 30 years and is the most experienced instructors in the country, taking the art from the original Carlson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and sharing it across the United States & abroad. He possesses a truly extraordinary knowledge of Jiu-Jitsu as a martial art and sport. A distinguished practitioner, coach, and teacher holding the prestigious rank of coral belt in jiu-jitsu. The coral belt, often revered as the "Master's Belt," symbolizes Marcelo's profound impact on the evolution of jiu-jitsu both locally, regionally, and globally. Marcelo has been instrumental in shaping the journey of countless athletes, not only enhancing their martial arts skills but also influencing their way of life.
